Whether you're on a construction site, in a warehouse, or managing a busy event, high visibility (hi-vis) clothing is essential to keeping your team safe—and it’s not just about safety anymore.
At Zepha Clothing, we combine visibility with professionalism by offering high-quality branded hi-vis workwear that makes your team stand out for all the right reasons.
Let’s break down what makes hi-vis gear so important, how to choose the right type for your job, and how you can personalise it with your company branding.

What Is Hi-Vis Clothing?
Hi-vis (also written as high viz or high visibility) is specially designed workwear made from fluorescent fabric and reflective tape. Its main purpose is to ensure the wearer stands out against the environment—especially in low-light conditions or near traffic. It’s commonly worn by construction workers, warehouse teams, event stewards, railway workers, and roadside staff.
But not all hi-vis is created equal.
From colours to classes, knowing what to wear—and where—can make a real difference.
Understanding Hi-Vis Colours: More Than Just Yellow
Fluorescent yellow is the most recognised hi-vis colour, but it’s not always the best choice. The environment plays a big role:
Yellow – Ideal for indoor or low-light environments. It's bright and grabs attention.
Orange – The go-to colour for rail workers and green environments, where yellow may blend in.
Other colours (red, pink, green, navy) – Often used to distinguish roles, such as stewards or first aiders at events, but may not meet safety standards.
Our sleeveless vests are available in a number of colours—but only orange and yellow meet the EN20471 Class 2 standard, which is important if your job involves safety-critical work.

The Hi-Vis Class System (And Why It Matters)
Hi-vis clothing in the UK must meet the EN ISO 20471 standard, which is divided into three classes based on the amount of reflective and fluorescent material:
Class 1 – Lowest visibility
For low-risk roles like delivery drivers or warehouse pickers. Examples: hi-vis trousers or basic two-tone vests.
Class 2 – Medium visibility
Ideal for road workers, traffic officers, or warehouse teams with some exposure to moving vehicles. Sleeveless vests and certain waistcoats fall into this category.
Class 3 – Highest visibility
Required for high-risk environments like railways or motorway sites. Includes long-sleeve jackets, coats, and bombers.
Need maximum protection? You can either wear a single Class 3 item, or layer multiple Class 2 garments that are certified to work together.
Choosing the Right Hi-Vis for the Job
When picking hi-vis gear for your team, ask:
Will it be worn indoors or outdoors?
Is the lighting low or changing throughout the day?
Is there vehicle traffic nearby?
Do roles need to be visually distinguished?
For example, a construction team working near moving vehicles will need Class 3 hi-vis. Stewards at a festival, on the other hand, might only require Class 1 or 2, with colours that match the branding of the event.
And don’t forget the extras—hi-vis polo shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts and trousers help keep your team visible and comfortable, no matter the weather.
